It would look like this but the tie rods would connect to two idler arms.
Center take off rack and pinion.
The rack pinion comes mounted to a one piece mounting bracket that bolts up to the frame using the same holes that held up the steering box and idler arm.
Both manual and power versions feature quick ratio straightcut gears requiring only three turns lock to lock standard oem 4 5 8 turns performance oem 3 3 4 turns.
The solution is to use the center takeoff with cententral pivot points to connect the idler arms to the rack.
Our patented line of high performance center take off rack and pinions enables correct geometry and a level of positive direct steering that is not possible with adapted oem units.
The cavalier rack is a center take off grand am sunbird etc used successfully on many conversions see the wiki swapping to rack and pinion steeriing cavalier rack install.
I quickly realized that the center link would pull away from the rack as it rotates around the idler arms radius.
The next problem is that the stock tie rods off the center takeoff rack are too long.
The solution is a short extension bar with some 10 11 tie rods.
We are just using the center take off rack and pinion to create something similar to the unisteer.
