To replace a light socket in the ceiling you ll need some basic electrician s tools to complete the job safely.
Wipe the inside of the socket with a soft cloth.

Assemble the necessary tools and parts.
A razor to cut around fixture if there s paint.
Check to see that the bulbs are screwed into their sockets.
Sometimes a tab gets pressed down too far and fails to make contact with the bulb tip.
Step 1 turn off power.
Restore power and test the light with a good bulb.
Check that the bulbs have the proper wattage for the ceiling fan light assembly.
Turn off the power to the fixture at the breaker box then pry up the little metal tab at the base of the socket using a small screwdriver.
At other times the light won t come on at all.
